Bristlecone Shooting, Training & Retail Center is Denver's premier indoor shooting range, offering an extraordinary shooting experience in a bright, welcoming atmosphere just north of the Union and Alameda intersection in Lakewood. The facility features 14 total shooting lanes at 25 yards, 6 standard and 8 tactical. Bristlecone Shooting Range is open to the public and members alike. Bristlecone maintains the largest firearm rental fleet in the Denver metro area, including handguns, rifles, shotguns, suppressed firearms, and full-auto Class III rentals (H&K MP5, IMI UZI, PWS AR). A 4,500 sq. ft. retail pro shop carries firearms, NFA items, optics, ammunition, apparel, and accessories. Two dedicated training classrooms and a TI Outdoors virtual reality shooting simulator round out the facility. Resident gunsmiths provide firearm repair, customization, and NFA services on-site. The comprehensive training program is organized by Bristlecone's 5-pinecone difficulty rating system — spans Introductory, Concealed Carry, Home Defense, Tactical, Youth, Specialty, Competition, Cleaning, and 4 Rings Tactical class categories, plus walk-in instructor sessions and fully customizable private instruction. Monthly competitions include USPSA and other formats. A robust membership program offers Individual, Couple, Family, Senior/Military/LEO, Student/Educator, and Corporate packages with free range use, lane reservation privileges, 50% off rentals, member lounge access, and more. Yes. Bristlecone is open to the public with 14 shooting lanes — 6 standard and 8 tactical. You do not need a membership to shoot. However, members shoot for free, can reserve lanes in advance, and enjoy a wide range of additional perks. Walk-in rate is $25; discounted rate of $20 for women, seniors 65+, youth ages 10-17, military/law enforcement, first responders, and students or educators. Women shoot free on Tuesdays.
Shooters must be at least 10 years old. Children under 10 are not permitted on the range or in the Virtual Training Simulator, but are welcome in the retail area with a guardian. Ages 10-17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times and cannot rent firearms. Ages 18-20 may shoot, rent, or purchase rifles and shotguns, and may shoot personally owned handguns without a guardian, but cannot rent handguns. Must be 21 to rent handguns, rent or shoot full-auto firearms, and purchase centerfire handgun ammunition.
No. Bristlecone maintains the largest firearm rental fleet in the Denver metro area. Handgun rentals are $20, long gun rentals are $25, suppressed firearm rentals are $35, and full-auto rentals are available at varying prices. Rental firearms must use ammunition purchased on-site. Shooters must be 18+ to rent long guns and 21+ to rent handguns or NFA items. Unaccompanied individuals may not rent firearms.
Bristlecone's full-auto rental fleet includes the Heckler & Koch MP5 (9mm), IMI UZI Model A (9mm), and PWS AR (5.56 NATO). All full-auto rentals are conducted under direct supervision of a range staff member. Shooters must be 21 years old to rent full-auto firearms.
Rifles are limited to 7.62mm (.300 Win/.30-06/.308) and smaller. Shotguns are allowed with slugs only — no birdshot or buckshot. Steel core, incendiary, and tracer rounds are not permitted on any range. Rental firearms must use range ammunition purchased on-site.
Bristlecone uses a 5-pinecone difficulty rating system. Classes span Introductory, Concealed Carry, Home Defense, Tactical, Youth, Specialty, Competition, Cleaning, and 4 Rings Tactical categories. Walk-in instructor sessions are available at no extra charge on the range for those wanting tips without committing to a full class. Private instruction is available at $125/hr for one person, $175/hr for two, and $225/hr for three. A Find My Gun lesson helps first-time buyers choose the right firearm. Group private classes can be arranged by emailing training@bristleconeshooting.com.
Bristlecone offers Individual, Couple, Family, Senior/Military/LEO, Student/Educator, and Corporate membership packages. Annual pricing: Individual $520, Couple $840, Family $1,045 (up to 5 in same household). Monthly options are available with a one-time initiation fee ($270 individual, $440 couple, $545 family). Discounted rates apply for seniors, military, law enforcement, first responders, and students or educators. Lifetime memberships are also available. All memberships include free range use, lane reservations, 50% off rentals, member lounge access, 10% off classes, 15% off gunsmith labor, 6 guest passes/year, and more.
Yes. Bristlecone hosts monthly shooting competitions including USPSA, Bowling Pin, and GSSF events. A Youth USPSA Camp is also offered. See the class calendar at bristleconeshooting.com for upcoming competition dates and registration.

Class cancellations more than 72 hours before start time are eligible for a full refund or free transfer within 3 months. Cancellations 24-72 hours before start time are not eligible for a refund but may transfer once with a $25 rescheduling fee. Cancellations under 24 hours or no-shows are not eligible for a refund or transfer. Firearm returns are accepted within 30 days with a 10% restocking fee (balance returned as a gift card). Accessories can be returned unused within 30 days. Ammunition, NFA items, clearance items, and special orders are final sale.
