Knob Creek Gun Range is Kentucky's only outdoor shooting range and one of the most storied shooting destinations in the country. Christian family-owned and operated for over 40 years, KCR sits at 690 Ritchey Lane in West Point, Kentucky approximately 30 miles southwest of Louisville. The main outdoor range stretches 350 yards and is open to any caliber firearm, including full-auto weapons that you personally own. There are no gun rentals — bring your own or shop the gun store on-site. Daily range access is just $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, with a $10 discounted rate for active or retired military. Annual memberships are available for individuals ($200) and families ($300). Ceasefire is called every half hour; shooters must sign in by 4:15pm to make the range. Knob Creek hosts a variety of recurring training and shooting events: the CCDW (Concealed Carry Deadly Weapon) class runs monthly ($75, 8-hour), Intro to Handgun is offered quarterly ($40, 4-hour), and the Kentuckiana Practical Defense League (KPDL) holds handgun defense stage competitions the second Saturday monthly. The Knob Creek Gunfighters Guild runs SASS-affiliated cowboy action shooting the first Sunday monthly. Free Kentucky Hunter Education Range Days are also hosted. Knob Creek has been featured on CMT's 'Guntucky' and is globally known for hosting the largest Machine Gun Shoot and Military Show in the United States — a bi-annual event drawing thousands of spectators and competitors.
