The Place to Shoot is Portland's indoor handgun range, located off I-5 in Delta Park just past Dick's Sporting Goods - one of the only public indoor ranges within Portland city limits. A no-frills, safety-first facility, it has served Portland shooters for decades with practice sessions, tactical training, and firearm safety instruction under one roof. The facility features 21 lanes on the main range plus a dedicated tactical training range, both outfitted with bright lighting and constant fresh-air ventilation. Whether you want to learn firearm safety from professionals, teach your family, or practice for competition or personal defense, the range caters to amateurs and professionals alike, with a pro shop for accessories and a variety of rental handguns. The pricing model rewards membership: non-members shoot for a flat $35 per day, while members pay just $10 on Sundays and $15 Wednesday through Saturday - and can bring a guest for $10. Annual memberships are $100 the first year ($50 to renew), $150 for joint spouse ($100 renewal), $35 for juniors aged 14-20 accompanying an adult member, and an Unlimited tier at $349 ($399 with spouse) that eliminates range fees entirely for a year. Classes run from basic handgun instruction to advanced tactical training, headlined by an Oregon Concealed Handgun License class for just $30. Safety is taken seriously: photo ID is required for everyone, targets must be purchased on-site, and an instructor fee may apply for inexperienced shooters to keep everyone on the line safe.
