Blue Trail Range is Connecticut's most comprehensive public shooting facility, open to all since 1945 at 316 North Branford Road in Wallingford. The property features three distinct shooting environments: a newly renovated outdoor covered firing line with 26 spacious shooting booths at distances up to 100 yards (renovated 2018 with new roof, concrete deck, clear plastic lane dividers, and adjustable shelving for standing or sitting), a separate indoor pistol range for year-round shooting in any weather, and a two-acre shotgun range recently refurbished. Blue Trail is open 7 days a week year-round 9am to 5pm October through April and 9am to 6pm May through September. The training program is one of Connecticut's most complete: Connecticut Pistol Permit classes starting at $99.99, Massachusetts LTC certification, Utah Pistol Permit (valid in 35+ states), Connecticut Long Guns Certificate, Mini Classes, Private Lessons, First Time Shooters instruction, and Youth Education programs. Competitive and club programs include the Junior Rifle Club, Handgun Bullseye League, Connecticut High School Shooting League, and regular competitive shooting events. Annual memberships provide unlimited access to rifle, pistol, and shotgun ranges during all operating hours. Firearm rentals, sales, FFL transfers, estate firearm sales, selling and consignment, and gift certificates round out the full-service offering.
