Minneapolis Gun Club is a shotgun-only clay target club at its Prior Lake location since 1968, and one of Minnesota's premier destinations for trap, skeet, and 5-stand sporting clays. Affiliated with the NSSA, NSCA, and ATA, the club is open to the public and hosts some of the state's biggest clay events - including the Minnesota State Skeet Championship, the NorthStar Open, the MN Masters, Hall of Fame shoots, and high school pre-state trap and skeet competitions. The club is strictly shotgun-for-clay-targets: there are no facilities for handguns, rifles, slugs, black powder, or archery, and target loads of 7-1/2 shot or lighter are the only ammunition allowed. That focus shows in the program - trap, skeet, and 5-stand run through the season, with jackpot trap and jackpot sporties for cash-game shooters, summer leagues in trap, skeet, and sporting clays, and fall leagues that add a combo league. Rounds of 25 targets are $15 for non-members and $11 for members at trap and skeet, or $16.50/$12.50 at 5-stand - and all youth shoot for $10 a round in every discipline, reflecting a deep commitment to junior shooting that includes hosting SCTP state trap and skeet championships and scholarship programs. Rental guns are available for $10 a day and ammo is sold on-site. Family memberships cover the whole household at $200 annual dues plus a $50 club maintenance fund contribution ($110 first-time initiation), and members can buy 50-round punch cards for extra savings. Summer hours run April through October, Tuesday through Sunday. Ladies Day events, vintage gun shoots, and a full tournament calendar round out one of the most active clay clubs in the Upper Midwest.
Summer hours (April through October): closed Monday; Tuesday-Thursday noon to dusk (about 8pm); Friday noon-4pm; Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm.
