Austin Rifle Club is one of Texas's oldest and most respected private shooting clubs, established in 1894 and incorporated in 1928 - a non-profit all-volunteer organization dedicated to shooting sports and youth marksmanship education. Located in Manor just east of Austin on Littig Road, the outdoor facility spans rifle ranges out to 200 yards across multiple bays and serves as the home range for the Austin Practical Shooting Club's USPSA and Steel Challenge matches. Membership requires a prospect safety evaluation, a range orientation class, a background check, a board vote, and a probationary period - ensuring a community of committed, safety-conscious members. With unlimited range access, volunteer-maintained facilities, and a genuine club culture built over 130 years, ARC is the serious outdoor shooting club for the Austin area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Austin Rifle Club open to the public?

No. Austin Rifle Club is a private members-only club. Only dues-paid members and their guests may use the range. No hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly passes are available. Membership is required and involves an application process including a safety evaluation, orientation class, background check, and board vote.

How do I join Austin Rifle Club?

Email membership@austinrifleclub.org to request the sign-up link and complete the membership application. You then attend a Prospect Safety Evaluation with an ARC Range Safety Officer. After passing, you attend a Range Orientation Class held on Sunday afternoons. Finally, pay your initiation fee ($200), prorated annual dues, and a $15 background check fee (waived with a valid Texas LTC). Your application is reviewed at a board meeting and typically approved within 2-3 weeks.

What are the membership fees?

The initiation fee is $200 for all new members. Annual dues are $100 for individuals and $150 for families, prorated from your join date to December 31. The $15 background check fee is waived if you hold a valid Texas License to Carry. Range time is free for all dues-paid members.

Can I bring guests?

Yes, but with restrictions. Members may bring the same guest a maximum of twice per calendar year, and guests must be directly supervised by a full member at all times. New members in their 6-month probationary period may not bring guests.

What ranges are available?

Austin Rifle Club has outdoor rifle bays with ranges out to 200 yards and multiple pistol bays. The range also serves as the home venue for APSC USPSA and Steel Challenge matches held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays and 4th Sunday of each month.

Does ARC have a youth program?

Yes. Austin Rifle Club's stated mission includes education of America's youth in shooting and safe gun handling. Youth programs and NRA-certified instructor classes are part of ARC's non-profit mission established since 1894.

Are there volunteer requirements for members?

Yes. Members are expected to contribute volunteer work time to help maintain the range. ARC is an all-volunteer organization and the range's condition depends on member participation. This is part of what makes ARC a genuine club community rather than a commercial range.
